For Major League Baseball’s Roberto Clemente Day, Block Chronicles and spruce & adorn™ came together with the Pittsburgh Pirates to honor Clemente’s humanitarian spirit through an immersive experience of story, sound, scent, nature, and ritual.
Curated by Dr. Jason C. Méndez of Block Chronicles and visual artist Jenifer Schweitzer of one girl’s graphics, Stories We Carry offered people a space to remember, reflect, and connect.
Visitors walked through a bodega-inspired tunnel, paused at the spruce & adorn™-sponsored forestry blessing ofrenda and blossoming flamboyán tree, and took part in a cleansing ritual with Del Caimán. The experience brought fans and community together through remembrance and reflection, honoring Clemente’s legacy and recognizing loved ones who carry his values forward.
The activation grew from Méndez’s evolving archival project, Guaraguao, which explores Boricua identity, memory, place, and diaspora through storytelling and artistic documentation. Stories We Carry brought that exploration into an act of recognition and remembrance, honoring Clemente’s legacy while inviting visitors to carry his values forward.

The bodega-inspired tunnel invited visitors to pause and engage their senses through story, scent, nature, and ritual.

At the spruce & adorn™ forestry blessing altar, visitors set intentions and added notes to the flamboyán tree—a moment for remembrance and reflection.

Del Caimán’s cauldron of cleansing invited visitors into a reflective ritual, exploring how spirit connects us across place, culture, and generations.
